During my career I have photographed a huge variety of subjects including public relations photography, commercial photography, portraiture, weddings, landscape and nature. I am fully qualified with the Master Photographer’s Association and the Royal Photographic Society. I have also been shortlisted in the 2011 and 2014 and 2015 Outdoor photographer of the year competitions and in the British Wildlife photographer of the year competition twice, the last time was in 2015. I would love to go one step further and win a category. Last but not least I am very pleased to have been asked to run photography courses at the Flatford Mill Field Centre in Suffolk. I have also worked with the Kent Heritage Tree Project and most recently had one of my images used as part of a billboard advertising campaign for Land Rover.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

I started shooting on film, both black and white and colour. I really enjoyed printing black and white images in the darkroom. The sight of an image appearing before your eyes in a tray of chemicals is one that you never get tired of. I switched to digital capture about fifteen years ago and I have to say I love the immediacy of using a digital SLR. I also find digital capture is a brilliant tool when it comes to teaching photography. I very much enjoy using my digital darkroom to print my art prints. No more smelly chemicals and a cold, damp darkroom.

ONLINE COURSES

This website contains all my online lessons and courses. Many hours have been invested in producing video lesson plus extensive back up pdf notes covering a wide range of subjects.

There are two areas of this website: the first area houses my online courses which consist of a number of lessons and back-up pdf notes. The courses also include practical projects for you to complete and then send to me for a constructive critique. Also included is tutor support from me for however long it takes you to complete the course.

The second area has all my stand-alone lessons. These lessons are exactly the same as the lessons included in my online courses and also include back up notes. The difference with the stand alone lessons is that they do not include tutor back-up or photo projects to complete.

WHAT I ENJOY MOST

I enjoy teaching both in the classroom, out on location and now also online.

If like me, you enjoy visual arts, I’m sure you’ll understand what a buzz I get when I’m out with a camera in hand, watching the fleeting changes of light play across the landscape. Capturing a wildlife event or taking a perfect portrait encourages me to take out a camera time after time. I have witnessed some magical moments over the years. Being a photographer means that I observe places and events that I might not otherwise have had the opportunity to. Photography has enriched my life. If I can encourage other people to take up or improve their photography, then that’s great.
