Norfolk Coast photography course

I had a fantastic three days running my three-day Norfolk coast photography course. I always run this course in September because the light can be stunning at this time of year on the Norfolk coast.

We were blessed with really good weather conditions which lead to some brilliant Norfolk skies and some of that great Norfolk light that I mentioned earlier.

On the first day we photographed a really nice windmill, then it was on to Hunstanton with a quick stop off at Thornham. I timed our arrival at Hunstanton to coincide with the tide going out. This means that firstly we haven’t got to worry about getting wet feet and secondly the sand is still wet from the retreating tide. This gives us the opportunity to photograph Hunstanton’s multi-coloured cliffs with the added bonus of their reflection in the wet sand.

Day two saw my group photographing the light house at Happisburgh and then we moved onto the beach to shoot moving water with slow shutter speeds. Again an outgoing tide was the order of the day so there was no chance of getting cut off by the tide.  These things are important in the planning of any trip.

The last day was spent in the Norfolk broads shooting wind pumps, a ruined abbey and finishing off with a spot of wildlife photography, photographing the seals on the beach.

So, all in all a fabulous trip which I’m very much looking forward to repeating next year.
